Management of genital Chlamydia trachomatis infections

Chlamydia trachomatis is a common cause of genital infection and can give rise to urethritis and epididymitis in men and cervicitis and pelvic inflammatory disease in women.1 However, most genital chlamydial infections do not produce symptoms and so may be spread unknowingly.1 This article discusses the diagnosis and treatment of infection and how the risk of spread may be reduced.
