Losartan ( ${blacktriangledown}$ Cozaar - MSD) is the first of a new class of antihypertensivedrug, the angiotensin II receptor blockers. The drug, whichis available in tablet form, has been launched with the claimthat it is "the antihypertensive for the '90s and beyond" with"a lower incidence of side effects than (is) usually associatedwith other antihypertensives". In this article we review losartanand assess its place in the treatment of patients with raisedarterial pressure.
