Hormone replacement therapy

Discussion about the use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) should be a routine component of managing the menopause. Discussion should include a brief description of the physiological processes that underlie the changes, the rationale for using HRT, the ways it can be given, the advantages and disadvantages of the various regimens and the ways of avoiding some of the problems that cause women to stop treatment prematurely.1 In this article we address these issues.
