The challenge of the Internet

The Internet is a telecommunications network linking computer terminals worldwide. It provides an essentially unfettered medium for transmitting messages, participating in dialogue, and displaying information. The challenges the Internet poses to medicine were discussed at a seminar held by DTB last November. Speakers addressed issues as they affect general practice (John Howard), pharmacy practice (Roger Odd), drug manufacturers (Miranda Kavanagh), consumers (Sheila McKechnie) and European Union legislation (Rolf Bass).
