Which operation for menorrhagia?
By the age of 55 years, an estimated 1 in 5 women in the UK has had a hysterectomy, often to treat menorrhagia (excessive menstrual bleeding).1 Over recent years, simpler and less radical techniques than hysterectomy have been developed in which the aim is to destroy the endometrium and preserve the uterus. Here, we review the efficacy and safety of the different surgical approaches available for treating menorrhagia.
