Patients with epilepsy whose seizures are controlled by antiepileptic medication may wish to discontinue their treatment because they think it is no longer necessary, or they wish to avoid unwanted effects. We have previously discussed stopping antiepileptic treatment in children.1 Here, we discuss whether, when and how to stop antiepileptic drugs in adults.
