Use of statin therapy is a key first-line approach in preventingcoronary heart disease events and stroke in people at increasedrisk of developing such complications. ${blacktriangledown}$ Ezetimibe (Ezetrol -MSD-Schering-Plough), the first licensed azetidinone drug, isbeing promoted as an adjunct to statin therapy to achieve greaterreductions in blood cholesterol concentrations than occur witha statin alone. Here we review ezetimibe and consider its placein clinical practice.
