The BNF for Children

Many medical conditions, treatments and treatment responses are particular to children or differ from their adult equivalents.1,2 Also, many potentially useful treatments are unlicensed for children. In general practice, at least 1 in 10 medicines prescribed for children are unlicensed or are used 'off-label'.3 These circumstances make the launch of the BNF for Children (BNFC) in September 2005 an important development. We review this new publication.
