${blacktriangledown}$ Rimonabant (Acomplia – Sanofi-Aventis) has been licensedin the UK since June 2006 for the treatment of obese and certainoverweight adults. Advertisements claim the drug has beneficialeffects on "cardiometabolic risk factors", and that "an estimated50% of the effects...on cardiometabolic risk factors are beyondthose expected from weight loss alone". Here we review the roleof rimonabant in managing patients with obesity.
