Abstract

Each year, around 1 in 1,000 adults in the UK has an acute upper gastrointestinal bleed.1 Acute treatment often includes the use of a proton pump inhibitor, although none is licensed in the UK for this indication. Here we consider whether such treatment helps and, if so, how it should be used.
