Abstract

Antihistamine ointments, lotions and creams are widely promoted for the treatment of “sunburn and other summer skin troubles” including insect bites, nettle rash, and prickly heat. Some are also advocated for the treatmet of burns and scalds. Most of these applications are not advertised to the public, but can be bought without prescription.
