Abstract

Terbutaline (Bricanyl - Astra) is a selective beta-adrenergic stimulant drug used in the treatment of asthma. We recently discussed terbutaline tablets,¹ and concluded that they were an acceptable alternative to tablets of salbutamol, orciprenaline and isoetharine, although there seemed little to choose between the four oral preparations. Terbutaline is now available as an aerosol. Each aerosol pack delivers 400 puffs of 0. 25 mg of terbutaline sulphate.
