Abstract

Pizotifen (Sanomigran - Wander) is structurally related to cyproheptadine, and has strong antiserotonin, antihistaminic, anti-tryptamine and anticholinergic actions.¹ It is unrelated to simple analgesics, ergotamine, clonidine and propranolol.² Methysergide (Deseril), another serotonin antagonist which is otherwise unrelated, can prevent migraine³ and therefore pizotifen has also been assessed as a prophylactic against migraine.
