Abstract

The Extra Pharmacopoeia is by far the most helpful reference book on drugs, and every prescriber should be familiar with it. The new edition contains much more material than its predecessor. It not only covers the preparations available in Britain, but now includes monographs on single-drug proprietary preparations marketed in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, South Africa, Sweden and the USA. Many proprietary names from other countries are also indexed. Over 30,000 brief abstracts from the literature, many of them recent, help the user to follow up particular points, and to reach his own conclusions about the value of a drug; the book itself contains no evaluations. It costs £30 and is well worth it.
