Narcotic analgesics in terminal cancer

Abstract

Despite the impact of hospices and similar units on the management of terminal cancer, many patients spend their last weeks or months in unnecessary pain. This is often because the doctor fails to ensure that regular and adequate doses of an appropriate analgesic are given.1
