Thyroxine tablets: new strengths

Abstract

On 1st December 1980 the new BP standard for thyroxine tablets came into effect. The thyroxine content now refers to anhydrous thyroxine, instead of the pentahydrate. This means that the tablets now contain about 11% more active drug than in the past. The change is too small to make an important difference in practice.
