When buying can cost less than the prescription charge

Abstract

Each item on an NHS prescription now costs £1 for patients who are not exempt from charges. Official appeals to discourage excessive demands for prescriptions1 have concentrated on costs to the taxpayer. This note discusses how patients can reduce costs of some of their medicines.
