Interactions between antibiotics and oral contraceptives

Abstract

Oral contraceptives have been widely used for many years and estimates suggest that more than 3 million women in Britain are now regular users. The data sheets for all oral contraceptives suggest that women use an alternative method of contraception whilst taking an antibiotic. Is this really necessary?
