Phenacetin in Switzerland: correction

Abstract

In our issue of April 16th (p. 29) we wrongly stated that in Switzerland phenacetin is now available only on prescription. In fact pharmacies may sell up to 10 G of the drug in one sale directly to the public, but a larger quantity requires a doctor’s prescription. Though this obviously does not constitute any real control, it amounts to official recognition that some sort of control is needed.
