Chemotherapy and non-small-cell lung cancer

  • Relevant BNF section: 8.1

Abstract

Around 34,000 people in the UK die from lung cancer each year.1 Over 75% of patients with the disease have non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Here, we discuss the role of chemotherapy in the management of NSCLC, a treatment that some medical oncologists estimate would benefit 50% of patients with NSCLC,2 but which is given to fewer than 10%.3
