Don't Drop Mixtard 30 campaign: Thank you

To date, around 1,300 people have signed our petition against the withdrawal of Mixtard 30 insulin from the UK market (which is due to occur on 31 December 2010). We wish to thank these people for their support. Their collective response makes clear that the drug's loss will have a detrimental effect on the lives of many people with diabetes, as well reducing the options for treating others in the future (as indicated in our article Which insulin, regimen and device in type 2 diabetes? [DTB 2010; 48: 134–8] published in the current issue).

This point was echoed in a letter organised and co-signed by DTB, and published recently in The Daily Telegraph. We continue to regret the drug's removal.
