Tetracyclines for intramuscular injection: corrections

Abstract

In the article on parenteral tetracycline therapy (March 1, 1968) the dosage of tetracycline and oxytetracycline by intramuscular injection was wrongly stated as being 0.5 G twice daily: the makers recommend 100 mg twice daily; the BNF dose of tetracycline and procaine injection is 200–400 mg daily. Pfizer have also pointed out that their preparation of oxytetracycline (Terramycin) is no less soluble than lymecycline, and that both injections are acid (Terramcyin pH 2–2. 2; lymecycline pH 4.3).
