Oral pentazocine (fortral)

Abstract

Pentazocine (Fortral - Bayer) is a strong analgesic which carries only a small risk of drug dependence. We discussed pentazocine injection soon after it was introduced in 1967.1 This year tablets containing the drug have become available; they are claimed to be as effective as intramuscular pethidine.
