Abstract

Glibenclamide (Daonil - Hoechst; Euglucon - Roussel) is claimed to be the most active and least toxic antidiabetic agent so far produced. Like other hypoglycaemic sulphonylureas it lowers the blood sugar at least in part by stimulating the release of endogenous insulin¹ and is suitable for the treatment of maturity-onset diabetes.
