Clindamycin (dalacin C)

Abstract

Clindamycin (7-chloro-7-deoxylincomycin) is an interesting semisynthetic derivative of lincomycin marketed as Dalacin C (Upjohn; there are no Dalacins A or B). The drug’s official name is now clindamycin, but early American papers refer to it as clinimycin which in Britain is Glaxo’s trade name for oxytetracycline dehydrate.
