An updated Cochrane review has reassessed the evidence on the role of monoclonal antibodies that target interleukin-5 (IL-5) or its receptor for the treatment of asthma.1 The review compared the effects of ▾ mepolizumab, ▾ reslizumab and benralizumab with placebo on exacerbations, health-related quality of life (HRQoL) measures and lung function in adults and children (over 12 years old) with chronic asthma, and specifically in those with eosinophilic asthma refractory to existing treatments.
