Premenstrual tension

Abstract

The syndrome of premenstrual tension is characterized chiefly by psychological symptoms - mainly anxiety and depression. Physical symptoms - retention of fluid, weight gain and a sense of bloating - may also occur. Most women experience striking relief once menstruation begins. Dysmenorrhoea is not related to the syndrome.
