Abstract

Trifluoperazine (Stelazine - SKF) is a phenothiazine tranquillizer of the piperazine series; among phenothiazine derivatives, it is probably second only to chlorpromazine in the frequency with which it is prescribed by psychiatrists. The manufacturers describe it as “extremely effective in mild mental and emotional disturbances”. They also state that it produces marked improvement in many psychotic patients who have failed to respond to any other treatment.
