Gantanol

Abstract

Sulphamethoxazole (Gantanol - Roche), a recently introduced relative of sulphafurazole (Gantrisin - Roche), is claimed to be “most effective” and “particularly indicated” in acute upper respiratory infections. Present evidence does not support the claim. The drug is also recommended for “other infections due to organisms that are sulphonamide sensitive, including urinary tract and soft tissue infections.”
