AB Drugs absorbed from the upper gastrointestinal tract are also absorbed in the rectum. The use of suppositories to administer systemic medication is common practice in Latin countries, but not in Britain.1 This route is convenient for adults and children who cannot use or tolerate oral or parenteral medication.
