AB Most doctors know from their own experience as patients that it is difficult to continue a course of drugs to the end if one begins to feel better or if one feels that the drugs are doing no good. Yet many of us seem to suppose that our own patients behave better as patients than we ourselves do. This is unlikely enough and it takes no account of a further reason for failure to follow instructions: that they have not been understood by the patient.
