About fifty years ago Sippy began to use frequent milk feeds to buffer gastric acid, and modified Sippy diets based on milk, cream, steamed fish and purees3 were widely adopted. Though tests have failed to show that such diets help to hasten ulcer healing or to relieve symptoms they are still used.
