Villescon and euvitol

Abstract

Villescon (prolintane together with five added vitamins - Boehringer Ingelheim) and Euvitol (fencamfamin - A & H) represent a new type of so-called tonic and have much in common. Both were first produced in Germany, rely largely on German animal and unsatisfactory clinical literature and have a certain similarity in chemical structure. Both are amines with a formal resemblance to well-known sympathomimetic substances. Only one carefully designed laboratory investigation seems so far to have been carried out upon humans for each one, and the conclusions drawn from the work by the manufacturers are in each case too sweeping to be justified.
