Abstract

Sinemet (MSD) is a combined preparation each tablet of which contains levodopa 250 mg and carbidopa 25 mg. It is used for the treatment of Parkinsonism. Levodopa is now established as the best treatment for Parkinsonism. Carbidopa (L-α-methyldopahydrazine) is a peripherally acting dopa-decarboxylase inhibitor which blocks the normal metabolism of levodopa outside the central nervous system.
