Abstract

Prazosin (Hypovase - Pfizer; Sinetens - Carlo Erba) is intended for the treatment of arterial hypertension. It is a quinazoline derivative and chemically unlike other antihypertensive drugs. The manufacturers claim that it works by relaxing arteriolar smooth muscle, which results in ‘smooth, gradual lowering of blood pressure’.
