Transplantation of organs
Abstract
Since we discussed organ transplantation 11 years ago1 there have been many developments in this field. Immunosuppresive therapy has become more standardised, more is known about tissue-typing, techniques of organ preservation have been improved, and psychological problems related to transplantation have become clearer. These general aspects of transplantation will be discussed in relation to kidney transplants, with which there has been most experience.
