Maprotiline (ludiomil): a new antidepressive

Abstract

Maprotiline (Ludiomil - Ciba) is a tetracyclic compound related to benzoctamine (Tacitin), an unremarkable sedative which we discussed in 1971.1 Maprotiline however has antidepressive properties. Does it have advantages over drugs already available?
