Mexiletine for ventricular arrhythmias

Abstract

Mexiletine (Mexitil - Boehringer Ingelheim) is a new anti-arrhythmic drug. Its structure is similar to that of lignocaine which it resembles in many of its pharmacological actions. Unlike lignocaine however, its metabolism by the liver is not rapid and it is therefore suitable for oral therapy.
