Last December we concluded that ‘perhexiline (Pexid - Merrell) is probably worth trying in patients with severe angina when nitrates and β-blockers control symptoms poorly. Minor unwanted effects and altered liver function tests are very common. Overt hepatotoxicity and peripheral neuropathy seem infrequent but the risks must be borne in mind’.¹
