Abstract

The current indications for influenza vaccination this season have been restated by the DHSS.¹ It is desirable for patients suffering from chronic pulmonary, heart or renal disease and patients with diabetes and possibly less common endocrine disorders. This list is not intended to be comprehensive and vaccine could also be offered to children over eight in hospital and residential establishments, elderly persons in geriatric wards or homes and also to doctors, nurses, ambulance men and others at special risk of infection. Three new vaccines are available for use this winter.
