Abstract

Sorbitrate chewable (Stuart) is a formulation of sorbide nitrate which the manufacturer claims has an onset of action as fast as that of glyceryl trinitrate but with an effect lasting for about 2 hours. Other sublingual preparations of sorbide nitrate (such as Vascardin - Nicholas; Cedocard - Tillotts) have been available in this country for many years, and a ‘chewable’ formulation has been marketed in the USA since 1971.
