Metronidazole suppositories for preventing anaerobic infections

Abstract

In 19761 when we discussed metronidazole (Flagyl - M & B) as a specific agent for the treatment and prevention of Bacteroides and other non-clostridial anaerobic infections, only tablets were generally available. Metronidazole suppositories have recently been marketed and an intravenous preparation is available for named patients.
