Indapamide and xipamide - two more diuretics
Abstract
Indapamide (Natrilix - Servier) is a chlorosulphonamide diuretic which is structurally but distantly related to the thiazides and to other sulphonamide diuretics (e. g. chlorthalidone). The manufacturer claims that in clinical use it can lower the blood pressure without causing a diuresis and that it is effective in a single daily dose. It is promoted as an antihypertensive agent, not as a diuretic.
