Abstract

Two similar combination preparations, Migravess (Dome) and Paramax (Beecham), have recently been introduced for the symptomatic treatment of acute migraine. Migravess is an effervescent tablet of aspirin 325 mg + metoclopramide 5 mg; Paramax is presented as a tablet or as a sachet of effervescent powder containing paracetamol 500 mg + metoclopramide 5 mg. The metoclopramide in these preparations is claimed to relieve migrainous nausea and vomiting by its central anti-emetic effect¹ and also to promote absorption of the analgesic by speeding gastric empyting.
