Antacids - a reappraisal

Abstract

Antacids are widely used in the management of peptic ulcer and other forms of dyspepsia. We last considered their use in 1964,1 and since then new mixtures and formulations have been marketed, the place of antacids in ulcer healing has been reassessed and the H2-receptor blocker cimetidine2 has been introduced.
