Trisequens
Abstract
Trisequens is a new product for oestrogen replacement therapy made by Novo and marketed here by Organon. It is described as a triphasic preparation because each 28-day calendar pack contains 12 tablets of oestradiol 2 mg + oestriol 1 mg (blue); 10 of oestradiol 2 mg + oestriol 1 mg + norethisterone acetate 1 mg (white); and 6 of oestradiol 1 mg + oestriol 0.5 mg (red). An older preparation (Syntex Menophase) contains six different combinations of the synthetic oestrogen, mestranol, and norethisterone. This article assesses the claims for Trisequens; we discussed the management of menopausal symptoms in 1978.1
