What should we tell patients about their medicines?

Abstract

Giving patients adequate information about medicines is a serious problem for doctors and pharmacists - not to mention manufacturers and regulatory-authorities. Many patients rightly think that they do not get enough information and many do not understand what little they do get. Doctors feel that they lack time for detailed explanation and are often uncomfortable with the details. Pharmacists rarely know what the doctor has told the patient, and are in a dilemma when they try to help.
