Minoxidil for severe hypertension

Abstract

Minoxidil (Loniten - Upjohn) is a powerful vasodilator recently marketed for the management of severe hypertension resistant to treatment with other drugs. It is unrelated in structure to the commonly used vasodilators hydralazine and diazoxide.1 A valuable detailed review of experience with the drug appeared 3 months ago.2
