Correction: antibacterial chemotherapy in the newborn 1981, p. 13

Abstract

Sulphonamides do not increase total plasma bilirubin as usually measured but displace the bilirubin bound to albumin. Displacement increases the concentration of free bilirubin and thus the risk of kernicterus.
