Antacids for peptic ulcer pain

Abstract

The cause of peptic ulcer pain is not completely known, but when it occurs acid gastric secretions probably are in contact with an ulcer. Antacids can relieve the pain however much acid is secreted, but there is no controlled evidence that antacids will promote healing of an ulcer or reduce the chance of its recurrence.
